Objectives of the Association
The Geocaching Québec Association has set itself the following objectives:
- To encourage and promote geocaching activities throughout Québec;
- To represent all its members before other recognized organizations;
- To cooperate with other organizations in the field of geocaching;
- To encourage the regular holding of meetings or events (event caches) across Québec.
Among the means used by the Association to promote geocaching in Québec are participation in activities such as the Eureka Festival, Val-David’s Eurofest, and appearances in various media through interviews or feature segments.
Thanks to the Association’s involvement with representatives of Québec Parks and Parks Canada, these parks are gradually, but surely, opening up to geocaching.
And of course, we must not forget recurring activities like the “Avalanche,” which attracts many geocachers every year.
History of the Association
The Geocaching Québec Association was officially founded on June 3, 2006, during the cache-meet « The very first… (GCW44E) » with the holding of the Association’s first General Assembly.
The idea of creating a Québec geocachers association had been growing in the minds of several individuals for some time, but the realization of larger projects (such as the Québec geocoins) accelerated the creation process.
The founding members of the Geocaching Québec Association are:
- André Lemire (Lemex)
- André Vandal (AV Dezign)
- Dominic Dufour (cyber6)
- Lambert Paquette (Landbehrt)
- Mario Labelle (Misouris)
- Thérèse Gilbert (Les2minous)
- Yannick Grenier (BeerMan-Qc)
